The Catcher in the Rye - Language and Structure
  Salinger uses language and  coordinate to give the reader an  perceptivity of Holdens views of the world, which tend to be both positive and negative. The  writing style of the novel is bildungsroman, which involves several situations that  spirt the character; and so in this novel, we read his attempts to finding his  identity operator as he goes from his  young years to being an adult. However, he does not change a lot throughout the novel, so this is contradictory. Contradiction is the term  utilize when two principles are  incongruous or are clashing. At the beginning of the extract, Holden  bids the two boys in the museum hot shots. This is because he sees them as phoney for truanting  rail and   therefore lying about there being no school tday. He to a fault then goes on to call one of the boys a  smallish bastard. This reinforces his negative views of former(a)s. However, Holden was never a perfect student either,  moreover does not mention his  suffer misdoings with shame. Al   so, he could feel  same an older brother to them as he says the boy was  a lot holding onto my sleeve.6 This  neighborly gesture could have re looked him of the  look he and Allie used to be. This opposes his  sign view of the boys, which shows he is  unable to stick to one thought.\n  in that location are several other instances in the novel where Holden contradicts himself, for example, his  locating towards isolation. Further on in the extract, Holden ends up being solely in a  tomb; he claims that he  class of liked it in a way.7 This is stated  concisely showing that he knows what he wants, however, yet again, towards the end of the extract, Holden contradicts himself as he shows that he would not want to be  solely isolated and does not mind being visited by his parents as he says Id let them visit, as  considerable as theyre not phoney. He implies that everyone else is phoney9  but his parents. This shows how contradictory his thoughts are as he initially says th...
